After a successful career in the high end fragrance business in NYC…Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Givenchy, Cher…I relocated to Santa Barbara CA to get back in touch with the natural world.

Nature has always been my design muse…an infinite quantity of colors, forms and textures. The subtle beauty of the skin on the Lacebark Elm which up close resembles an abstract painting, the vibrancy of the Cedar Waxwing’s feathery tips dipped in vermillion or the bright pink tongue of a very happy pup.

A flying maple seed represents the perfect design to me. The seed must fall far from the shade of it’s parent in order to thrive so it is embedded in a wing which takes flight to deposit that seed where it will grow. Just as I take the seed of an idea and fly with it until it becomes a thriving business. And of course that fresh wing is the most sublime shade of pale green clinging to its branch and creates a trifle of joy when stuck on your nose.

The true beauty of good design is how well it works. Does the name of your company reflect your values? Does your tagline communicate your goals? Is your logomark distinct? As in nature, every brand has its point of difference.
